The Colmbus Blues Challenge is the annual competition to held to select the acts - one band and one solo/duo - that will represent the Columbus Blues Alliance at the Blues Foundation'sInternational Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.The 2011 International Blues Challenge will take place February 1-5, 2011.
The International Blues Challenge is an annual competition to select the the best "unsigned" blues bands in the world.
Each year, Blues Foundation affilliates have the opportunity to send their representatives to the IBC.
In 2007, Columbus' own Sean Carney Band, representing the Columbus Blues Alliance placed first in the band finals at the Orpheum Theater. Sean also won the coveted Albert King Award, presented to the most promising guitarist. Who's to say the next IBC winner won't come from Columbus?
To help pay expenses in Memphis, the winner of each category will receive prize money as listed below:
Band winner - $1,000Solo/duo winner - $200/person
