The Columbus Blues Alliance : Spotlight On Local Musicians

Kathy Wolfe

Kathy Wolfe

Birthdate: April 19, 1957 , Spartanburg , S.C.

Current Bands: WolfHound

Gear: Shure 58 Beta microphone, Guild Songbird and a Fender Princeton Chorus amplifier. Sometimes I use my Strat and my Yamaha APX 12 String.

Recordings you are on: None yet.

Favorite guitarist (living): Eric Clapton, Robben Ford, B.B. King

Favorite guitarist (deceased): Stevie Ray Vaughan

Favorite singer (living): Bonnie Raitt, Shemekia Copeland, Koko Taylor, Susan Tedeschi

Favorite singer (deceased): Janis Joplin

First record you bought: "Meet the Monkees" and "Something Happening" by Paul Revere and the Raiders. I was madly in love with Mark Lindsay!

First Blues record you bought: "What'd I Say" written by Ray Charles, performed by Elvis Presley on the "B" side of a "Viva Las Vegas" 45. Also "The Twist" by Chubby Checker. This was part of my brother's record collection but made quite an impact on me at the age of 4. Years later, I got Chubby's autograph when he performed at the Myrtle Beach Hilton in the mid-70's.

Music career focus: (1) To become a blues singer, not just one who sings the blues; (2) to record a WolfHound CD.

Personal Statement:

Kathy Wolfe: " I'm having a great time making music with my wonderfully talented WolfHound bandmates. Establishing WolfHound is a dream come true for me. I look forward to our continued presence on the local blues scene and beyond…"
